Born and raised in White Plains, NY, Jack followed in the footsteps of his veteran father and grandfather and enlisted in the Navy in 1986, serving in the Persian Gulf on the USS Saratoga. After graduating from SUNY Westchester though the GI Bill, Jack worked on and off of Wall Street for 20 years. He first developed his passion for knife sharpening in his high school metal shop, and would routinely share his hobby with friends and co-workers by sharpening their knives, gardening tools, and anything else that just wasn't cutting it. He quickly realized his hobby was becoming a passion, and he saw a need for residential cooks to have their home knives sharpened.
Jack's idea was to put a sharp knife in the hands of every domestic chef, and he started Jack Knife Sharpening. Jack is a regular staple at local Tri-State farmer's markets where he can be seen rain or shine providing a service to his local community. Knowing that not everyone has the time or ability to come to him for sharpening, he started ChopSwap - so that everyone, everywhere, would have access to this unique and highly reviewed service. He is married to his wife Sarah for 20 years, and they have three teenage sons, Jack, Hudson, and Jet, all living in the Tri-State area. His rescue dog Alpha is a close companion :)
